Ella Braham Dovrat

Ella began practicing yoga in 2014, almost by chance, when she joined a last-minute trip to Rishikesh, India, with a close friend who was traveling to study with Usha Devi, a senior Iyengar Yoga teacher. That experience proved to be deeply transformative.

After returning home to Tel Aviv, Ella continued her studies with Iyengar teachers, grounding her practice in the Iyengar method from the very beginning.

Ella holds degrees in Law, Sociology, and Environmental Studies from Tel Aviv University and previously worked as a lawyer at one of Israel’s leading law firms. Throughout her years in the legal profession, yoga remained a central and sustaining part of her life, offering balance, clarity, and joy, alongside an ongoing physical and mental challenge that supported her in meeting the demands of daily life.

In 2023, Ella relocated to New York and chose to make yoga as her primary path. First and foremost as a practitioner, she began studying under the guidance and mentorship of James Murphy and Tori Milner. She later joined the Teacher Training Program at the Iyengar Institute of New York under their direction, began teaching in 2024, and was certified as a Level 1 Iyengar Yoga Teacher in September 2025.

Ella has traveled to India four times - twice to the Himalayan region and twice to Pune, studying at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute - where she worked with senior Iyengar teachers on each visit. These journeys deepened her understanding of yoga as a whole subject, extending far beyond the physical practice of asana. As B.K.S. Iyengar expressed, “My body is my temple, and asanas are my prayers.”

As a teacher, Ella strives to teach with precision and clarity, supporting students in progressing steadily and in developing a deeper understanding of themselves through the body, and, through that process, of what lies within.
