Introductory I & II
Rose began practising yoga in 1996 and discovered Iyengar yoga in 2002. Like countless others, she was attracted to the optimism and problem-solving approach of the Iyengars – it challenged her perceptions of what she thought she could or couldn’t do and provided a practical framework in which to develop.
A warm and supportive teacher, Rose believes that the progressive and systematic method of Iyengar Yoga allows students to develop at their own pace and this helps them build confidence and a sense of personal accomplishment. She helps students build on their innate intelligence to improve their mind-body relationship.
“Most of us come to yoga as we are looking for something – space, stability, ease or maybe something we cannot yet articulate. By strengthening the mind-body connection I believe we are more likely to find the answers we are looking for”.
Originally from London, Rose moved to NYC in 2009. She completed the teacher-training program at the Iyengar Institute of New York in 2013 and was fully certified in 2015. Rose continues her studies with James Murphy, Tori Milner and Matt Dreyfus and assists in the Specific Needs class at the Institute. She has travelled twice to Pune to study with the Iyengar family and studies with Manouso Manos whenever she can. Rose is grateful to all her teachers and colleagues who share their wisdom and experience with such generosity.
Having graduated with a Master of Arts in Art History from St Andrews University Rose qualified as a lawyer in 1997 and continues to advise UK book publishers as a legal editor alongside her yoga teaching. She lives in downtown Manhattan with her husband Mike and their two cats.
