Tori Milner

Tori first discovered Iyengar Yoga in 1996 and began teaching in 2001. A student of the late Mary Dunn, Tori maintains Mary as an inspiration. She  continues her studies with senior teachers in the method in addition to her regular trips to Pune, where she has been 12 times since 2004.

Formerly an account executive, she majored in English at Sweet Briar College, is a mother of twins and loves nature and animals. Tori has served both IYAGNY and IYNAUS on the Board of Directors. She is currently the Co-Chair of the IYNAUS Assessment Committee and has been a key member of the administrative team of The Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York since 2015. She has been involved with the Teacher Education Program of IYAGNY since 2009. She is chairing the 2026 IYNAUS Convention in Philadelphia.

She strives to be clear, observant, insightful, and instill enthusiasm for the subject in beginners and experienced students alike. She uses her skill for sequencing and passion for teaching to motivate students and spark the joy that comes from discovering their own potential.

“I always remember being a beginner,” she says, “in addition to the physical challenge, which I enjoyed immensely, I noticed the profound mental and emotional relief after class, no matter what we did!” She attempts to share with others how to make progress and bring about that transformation for themselves.
