Sarah began studying Iyengar Yoga in 1992 with Brooke Myers and Kevin Gardiner and went on to study with Senior Teacher Mary Dunn, who was her mentor through her Introductory level assessments. Mary and Senior Teacher James Murphy conducted Sarah’s Teacher Training at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York.
Sarah began teaching Iyengar Yoga in 1995. She has been to India to study with the Iyengar’s in 2014 and 2015 and returned to India to study with Firooza Ali Razvi annually from 2017-2023. She has been following the anatomy teachings of Irene Dowd for the last 26 years.
Sarah holds a BFA in Dance from the North Carolina School of the Arts. She performed for over a decade with Tere O’Connor Dance and served as its rehearsal director until 2005.The demands of Sarah’s 20-year career as a professional modern dancer led her to Iyengar Yoga. “The wholeness of the practice for both mind and body helped create balance and stability for me while in a physically demanding and stressful field,” she says.
Sarah’s teaching style reflects her calm nature. Her years of experience in studying the body in action informs her classes with clarity and understanding.
