Santiago Hernandez

Santiago began studying with Senior Teacher John Schumacher in Washington DC in 2013. John took him as an apprentice and trained him extensively to become Iyengar certified. Santiago has studied with multiple senior teachers such as Kofi Busia, Lois Steinberg, James Murphy and Laurie Blakeney, to name a few. He is from Argentina. 

Santiago is also a certified massage therapist, a graduate from Potomac Massage Training Institute in Maryland, where he worked at their clinic. He is an avid student of various subjects: he is currently learning Catalan and takes lyrical singing lessons in Buenos Aires. He also loves to cook, read and write at home.

Santiago’s goal as a teacher is to guide students in their exploration of yoga, to help them relate to the subject, so they may integrate yoga practice in their lives in a way that works for them. In other words, he is inspired by his own teacher’s advice, to meet students where they are and go from there.
