To Be Accepted Into the Program

Teacher training at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of New York is open to practitioners of Iyengar Yoga who have a mature knowledge of and regular practice in this discipline. To become a teacher in the tradition of B.K.S. Iyengar, it is necessary to have studied the method, to be able to do Level III work, and to have a home practice. A prospective teacher needs to be passionate about the subject, and dedicated to sharing it.

All applicants must attend an evaluation to present their understanding of Iyengar Yoga through demonstration of the asanas on the introductory syllabus. We accept only applicants who are committed to teaching the Iyengar method.

A further requirement for admission is membership in the Iyengar Yoga Association of Greater New York (incorporating membership in the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States, IYNAUS).

If you would like to inquire about our next enrollment period, please contact us at info@iyengarnyc.org.
